Shifu Donna Oliver Master Instructor M.Q.T. is teaching a two-day non-residential workshop on 28th & 29th September 2024 at: St Joseph’s Community Centre, Shibdon Road, Blaydon, T&W NE21 5AE

This workshop will be of interest to anyone who practises Yang style Tai Chi Chuan and is of particular interest to those who practise Rose Li Tai Chi Chuan. The workshop is a unique opportunity for you (whatever your skill level) to polish your Taijiquan form and deepen your understanding of its underlying dynamics and energetics under the personal guidance of Shifu Donna Oliver. Donna has trained in Chinese internal martial arts and Qigong since 1988, predominantly with Shifu Andy James, at the Tai Chi and Meditation Centre in Toronto, where she continues to teach, study, and oversee the organization’s direction. She has consistently won “Gold” in competitions including the Pan Am Games and is a Medical Qigong Therapist and certified instructor of the International Institute of Medical Qigong (Canadian branch).

The day will include detailed Taijiquan form review (as taught at the Tai Chi & Meditation Centre), static and dynamic structure, partner exercises, push hands and more. Both days will also include elements of Qigong as well. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain an insight into the integrated mind-body practice that is Tai Chi & Qigong.  You can find out more about The Tai Chi and Meditation Centre in Toronto here: www.torontotaichimeditationcentre.com

A change of venue but the same class! Start your week as you mean to go on – with a boost to your chi. An accessible class to both beginners & experienced, we will (as much as possible) be outside amongst the trees of GPCH churchyard. Do not worry – there’s an indoor venue when the weather’s bad.

Class is £10 per session, or £36 if paid in four consecutive sessions. Wear appropriate clothing – wrap up for the colder days!

My partner Karen who teaches Yoga (has a background training both in Shiatsu and Acupuncture) and I are teaching a course/holiday at my sister’s house in Italy in September. This one’s a combination of Yoga/Tai Chi Qigong. Have a look:
http://www.piccoli.co.uk/

We did it before in 2012, it was great fun, and got feedback like this:
‘I enjoyed having a taster of all new disciplines – well organised and informatinve classes’
”Not feeling competitive’
‘Fun – felt everything was allowed’
‘Enjoyed learning new skills & relaxing in a peaceful location’.

There are likely to be participants with a variety of experience, from absolute beginner upwards…so we bring what we bring. As anyone working with energy exercises knows, what we learn at the beginning forms the foundation of everything. Learning is cyclical, or maybe a spiral..!
